The national flag of Nigeria was established in 1959 by Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi Nigerian student, winner of the contest focused on the creation of the flag of the country.
She was adopted as a national symbol of the country on October 1, 1960.


Meanings of colors : 
The white flag is the peace and unity.
The green color is agriculture.

 

 

 

 Curiosity: The original flag proposal by the student Taiwo had the same format and the same colors, however, had a red sun in the center. The judges of the contest chose this flag, but withdrew the red sun.
